NHK World Japan reported on the delivery of 40 vehicles and 50 ALIS vehicles for demining. Japan gives Ukraine mine detectors at handover ceremony.

From the facebook of the Embassy of Japan in Ukraine…On November 20, JICA – Japan International Cooperation Agency delivered ALIS (Advanced Landmine Imaging System) to the SES (State Emergency Service of Ukraine) in order to strengthen Ukraine’s mine clearance capability by improving mine detection accuracy and mobility. The 50 landmine detectors and 40 special vehicles were delivered to the Ukrainian SES.

ALIS was introduced at The Workshop Series “On Ukraine’s Recovery and Future”
The 2nd Three-University Workshop“On Ukraine’s Recovery and Future” was held on Friday, September 8, 2023, at the Tohoku University Katahira Campus “Hall of Knowledge”. Toshiya Ueki, Vice President of Tohoku University and Director of the Center for International Law and Policy, introduced the efforts to clear landmines and unexploded ordnance using ALIS, which is being provided for the reconstruction of Ukraine.

Provision of demining equipment, including 4 ALIS units, to Ukraine’s Emergency Situations Agency
In September 2023, Foreign Minister Hayashi visited Ukraine and provided demining equipment, including four ALIS units, to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SESU).
The next 50 units of ALIS are to be provided to Ukraine.
